Prova, prova, prova, prova, prova... The word is carried along as the camera portrays the protagonists ready to act on the stage of speculum mundi. Adrian Paci's survey exhibition at the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana appropriates the title of the artist's most recent video work, Prova (2019). Prova as both an exhibition and a video work is a collective self-portrait - possibly the artist's most mature and radical gesture of a political nature, expressing the urgency to take action and indicating the willingness to perform the civic responsibility... Paci's entire oeuvre is an anatomy of political desire: from an account of dispossession and exile through a ritual of belonging and identification down to the mechanics of self-empowerment and emancipation...
